Sunderland takeover edges closer as American consortium registers new company

Sunderland’s takeover is currently edging nearer following the American consortium in discussions with the League One club registered a business .
“FPP Sunderland Ltd” was lodged on Monday as a vehicle to facilitate the proposed takeover by MSD Parners LP, a New York City-based investment firm that manages the funds of computer magnate Michael Dell and loved ones.
Using Dell a passive, property investor uS-based trio Glenn Fuhrman, John Phelan and Robert Platek will be the club control owners.
Even though they’re aware this will take time, their long-term plan is to reunite Sunderland to the Premier League.
Current proprietor Stewart Donald, that has been at the helm for 16 weeks, will keep a stake at the club and he and Charlie Methven will remain integral to the surgeries.
Donald, who bought the League One club for only #40m, said last month that the deal will be”hugely exciting”.
“We have got a preferred partner, somebody that we think can really do what we’ve talked about doing and come with us to select the club into the next level,” he said.
“I hope that we may get the deal within the line because I believe it’s a hugely exciting deal for all of the appropriate reasons.”
A deal to sell the club into another US-businessman fell through in July.
Sunderland are fourth at Sky Bet League One in their introduction eight matches with a defeat, three draws and four wins.
